The Leibniz Institute for Natural Product Research and Infection Biology – Hans Knöll Institute –(HKI,) investigates the pathobiology of human-pathogenic fungi and identifies targets for the development of novel natural product-based antibiotics. The Department of Molecular and Applied Microbiology invites talented and highly gifted candidates to apply for a Postdoc position starting from September for two years initially.

The successful candidate will work within the framework of a BMBF-funded collaborative research project on the therapeutic and diagnostic exploitation of antigen-reactive T cellsMain topics of the project may include:

· Characterisation of the T-cell reactivity of antigen fractions of the human-pathogenic fungus Aspergillus fumigatus
· Serological proteome analyses for the identification of immunogenic protein antigens of pulmonary pathogens
· Recombinant production of A. fumigatus protein antigens
· Development of a T-cell based assay for the diagnosis of mould-associated diseases

Our requirements: PhD in natural sciences/life sciences (Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or Molecular Biology). Good knowledge in standard techniques of microbiology, immunology, biochemistry and molecular biology are expected. We would welcome a highly motivated co-worker with excellent communications skills and the ability to work on an interdisciplinary project.
