Our Laboratory for Advanced Material Processing at Empa’s location in Thun is offering a
Postdoctoral position in laser processing of materials
Your Tasks

· Perform complex laser experiment with various real-time and in situ technics
· Material characterization with state-of-the-art methods
· Collaborate with internal and external groups as well as industrial partners
· Communicate results at meetings, Conferences and through high-impact publications
Your Profile

· PhD in mechanical engineering, material science, physics, Electrical Engineering or in a related field with experience in laser processing
· Advanced knowledge in material characterization techniques (i.e. SEM, EBSD, other microscopy techniques)
· Experience in laser processing of materials is an advantage
· Demonstrated experience in publication of research findings with an excellent publication record, commensurate with opportunities
· Excellent communication skills and fluency in English (written and oral) is mandatory, French and/or German would be an advantage
· Open mind to new technologies
· Hands-on attitude with commitment to excellence and Innovation
This position is immediately available with initial contract duration of 1 year with the possibility for extensions.
