Well-being, health and performance of a human are highly affected by the thermal interactions between the human body and its environment. The main aim of the project is to develop, implement and validate a simulation tool based on different modules (i.e. module for thermo-physiological responses, module for heat and mass transfer in clothing systems, module for environmental boundary conditions).

The PhD is conducted in the framework of an approved EU-Project. It combines different fields of expertise (modelling of heat and mass transfer, technology of measurement, thermal physiology) and, therefore, includes manifold of challenges and asks for self-learning skills. Furthermore, project management as well as good communication skills are required Empa offers an interdisciplinary working environment which allows the application of the knowledge and work experience of the candidate in variety of industrial sectors and scientific disciplines.

Candidate prerequisites
· Master degree in physics or engineering field
· Knowledge in MatLAB programming and/or CFD, and inclination for learning new software Motivation, enthusiasm and autonomy at work
· Good command of spoken and written English (min. C level in European Language Pass), command of German is appreciated but not necessary
