The Department of Physics is an internationally lively research environment, situated in the AlbaNova University Center and has about 240 employees, 250 undergraduate students and 90 PhD students. For more information about the department, see www.fysik.su.se.

Project description
The Department of Physics announce a postdoctoral (alternatively researcher) position for an outstanding individual to work on the theory of topological phases with focus on Weyl (semi) metals. The position is financed by the Swedish Research Council through a grant on “Tilted Weyl Fermions” awarded to Emil J. Bergholtz.

Main responsibilities
Carrying out high class research in the theory of topological phases, especially on Weyl semimetals, in collaboration with Emil J. Bergholtz.

Qualification requirements
Postdoctoral positions are appointed primarily for purposes of research. Applicants are expected to hold a Swedish doctoral degree or an equivalent degree from another country. A suitable background is a PhD in theoretical physics specializing in theoretical condensed matter physics, high energy physics or mathematical physics.

Assessment criteria
The successful applicant will be selected based on documented knowledge relevant for the area of study. Excellent analytical capability is absolutely necessary and programming skills are wished for. A high level of personal motivation and team working skills is also crucial. Well-developed English language skills are required.

In the appointment process, special attention will be given to research skills. The applicants are encouraged to provide supporting documents that substantiate qualifications. References and interviews will be used to assess qualifications of the applicants.

Terms of employment
The position involves full-time employment for two years, with the possibility of extension under special circumstances. Start date during 2017 as per agreement.
