The Department of Physics is an internationally lively research environment, situated in the AlbaNova University Center and has about 230 employees, 90 PhD students and 250 undergraduate students. For more information about the department see www.fysik.su.se/english/.

Project description
Two postdoctoral openings will be available for outstanding individuals to work with Prof. Hiranya Peiris in the areas of theoretical and observational cosmology. The central research themes of interest will be one or more of the following: cosmological data analysis related to cosmic microwave background, galaxy survey and Lyman-alpha data, cosmological applications of numerical relativity, structure formation simulations and time-domain astronomy.

Stockholm University has a world-class research group in cosmology at the Oskar Klein Centre for Cosmoparticle Physics, www.okc.albanova.se, including involvement in XENON-1T, Icecube/DeepCore, FERMI Gamma Ray Space Telescope, ATLAS at CERN and iPTF/ZTF. Additionally it is anticipated that the group will join LSST. Postdoctoral associates are welcome to participate in Scientific Programs at Nordita, the Nordic Institute for Theoretical Physics, which bring together groups of leading experts to work on specific topics for extended periods. The postdoctoral associates will also have access to generous research and travel funds, excellent benefits as well as excellent computing facilities.

Main responsibilities
The position involves research in cosmology, broadly related to testing fundamental physics with large cosmological surveys.

Qualification requirements
Postdoctoral positions are appointed primarily for purposes of research. Applicants are expected to hold a Swedish doctoral degree or an equivalent degree from another country.

Assessment criteria
In the appointment process, special attention will be given to research skills in high performance computing, statistics, numeral modelling and cosmological analysis.

Terms of employment
The position involves full-time employment for a maximum of two years, with the possibility of extension for one year. Start date 1 October 2017 or as per agreement.
