English language proficiency equivalent to (the Swedish upper secondary school) English course B/6. There are three different ways to fulfill the English language requirements:

۱٫ English language tests

TOEFL
Paper-based test: total result of 575 (written test, minimum grade 4.5)
Internet-based test: total result of 90 (written test, minimum grade 20)
English test results from TOEFL should be sent directly from the ETS test centre to University Admissions in Sweden (institution code: “Sweden 3477”). Examinee score reports, photocopies, TOEIC or institutional TOEFL are not accepted as sufficient proof of English proficiency. www.toefl.org

IELTS
A minimum overall mark of 6.5, with no section lower than 5.5 (only Academic Training accepted). The original test report should be uploaded to your application at University Admissions in Sweden. The result will be verified online.  www.ielts.org

University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations (Cambridge ESOL)
Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) Certificate in Advanced English
Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE) (Certificate of Proficiency in English)

Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB)
For English 6: Minimum score of 90

University of Michigan, ECPE (Examination for the certificate of Proficiency in English)

Pearson PTE Academic
For English 6: Score of 62 (writing 61). Please send a copy of your Test Taker Score Report. Your test scores must be verified. Contact Pearson and arrange for them to assign your test result to “University Admissions in Sweden”.
This will enable University Admissions to verify your test score online. Please note that this process can take time, so arrange this as soon as possible if you already have test results to report. University Admissions will not accept results that can’t be verified.

۲٫ Previous university studies

English proficiency tests are waived for the following:

  • Students with a Bachelor’s degree from a university where English is the only language of instruction, in accordance with the recommendations in the edition of the International Handbook of Universities that was current the year the degree was awarded.
  • Students with a Bachelor’s degree (equivalent to 180 ECTS credits) where English is the main subject.
  • Students with a Bachelor’s degree (equivalent to 180 ECTS credits) in Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Applications, Medicine, Pharmacy, Science or Technology from India or Pakistan unless it is documented that the language of instruction for the programme was a language other than English.
  • Students with 30 higher education credits (equivalent to 30 ECTS credits) from an EU/EEA country or Switzerland where the language of instruction of the course is English. The language of instruction must be clearly stated on official documents.
  • Students with 30 higher education credits (equivalent to 30 ECTS credits) from Great Britain, Ireland, Malta, USA, Australia, New Zealand, Jamaica, or English speaking parts of Canada. The language of instruction must be clearly stated on official documents.
  • Students with a formal transcript or degree certificate where it is clearly stated that the language of instruction was English. Other documentation regarding language of instruction will not be accepted.
  • Turkish students who have studied a 1 year preparatory class in English at a University. The class must be listed on the transcript or in a certificate from the university stating that you have received a passing grade.

۳٫ Upper secondary school

In some cases English proficiency can be fulfilled from upper secondary education, e.g. GCE O-level (minimum grade C). Documentation of completed upper secondary education must be included in the application.
