Value of award

۱۰۰% tuition fees at UK/EU rate plus an annual stipend of £۱۴,۵۵۳.  Successful non-EU international students will be required to make up the difference between the UK/EU fees and international fees.

Overview

Six studentships from eight projects to choose from based on IAFRI’s current studentship themes:

  1. Mastitis and animal husbandry-next generation sequencing as a support tool
  2. Using in-field diagnostics to better manage fungicide use and resistance development
  3. Automated monitoring of lameness in dairy cattle using facial expression analysis
  4. Bioprospecting and pathovar profiling of plant pathogenic bacteria using novel high throughput technology platforms
  5. Monitoring food and feed authenticity using an advanced glycan profiling platform
  6. Enhancing technology uptake for pesticide resistance
  7. Innovation for Sustainable Intensification in the UK Agricultural Sector
  8. How can we characterise meat quality? Psychophysics of consumption indicators of the quality of beef

Students will be based at either Newcastle University or Fera Science Ltd in York.

Eligibility Criteria

You must have, or expect to achieve, a first-class or upper-second-class honours degree in a relevant subject or international equivalent.

This award is available to UK/EU and International candidates. If English is not your first language, you must have IELTS 6.5 with at least 5.5 in each component.

  • attach a covering letter and CV. The covering letter must state the title of the studentship, quote reference code AG037 and state how your interests and experience relate to the project
  • attach degree transcripts and certificates and, if English is not your first language, a copy of your English language qualifications
