بورسیه دکتری در مهندسی عمران، معماری و شهرسازی در سوئد

This project is housed at the Department of Civil, Environmental and Natural Resources Engineering at Luleå University of Technology, the Urban Water Research Group and aims at investigating technologies for the treatment of stormwater.

The Urban Water Research Group has a strong position in research and education within the area of urban water systems mainly in the areas of stormwater, wastewater and sewer systems. The group’s overall aim is to contribute to the development of sustainable urban water systems. Being a part of the Urban Water Research Group implies working in an international and creative environment. The group consists of a number of senior researchers, Swedish and international adjunct professors and more than ten doctoral candidates. The group has an extensive international collaboration network.

Subject description
Urban Water Engineering encompasses the entire urban water system (stormwater, drinking water and wastewater) with regard to collection, transport and treatment, as well as organization and planning. Our research aims to encourage a good economy, clean environment and the efficient use of resources, while preserving public health and safety.

Project description
Urban stormwater can be polluted, e.g. if generated on roads or industrial areas. This project aims at investigating different technologies for the treatment of stormwater, including both centralized and decentralized treatment techniques. As a first step, the treatment methods will be investigated at laboratory-scale, but some methods will also be evaluated in pilot- or full-scale experiments. The project will be carried out in cooperation with stakeholders.

Duties
The PhD candidate is expected to independently plan and carry out laboratory and field work. Further tasks include the writing of scientific papers and the doctoral thesis as well as the participation in Swedish and international conferences. Third-cycle education also includes courses that the PhD candidate must attend. The PhD studies are 4 years, fulltime. Administration and/or lecturing on basic and advanced level of up to one year may be added to this time.

English language skills are required to facilitate the candidate’s presentation of research outcomes at international conferences and in scientific journals. Further skills needed are the ability to work independently and take own initiatives as well as independently penetrate new research areas. Experience and/or education in the field of sanitary/urban water engineering, chemistry, laboratory and field work, statistical data analysis as well as Swedish language skills are beneficial. It is preferable if you hold a driving license to facilitate field work, and if you can start working with us soon.
