You will be involved in a research project related to the valorisation of berry pomace (project between Belgium and Germany). The task for our lab is to make anthocyanidin and phenolic rich extracts of different berry pomace streams, evaluating the potential use of enzymes to obtain higher extraction efficiencies. Evaluating the extract stability is also one of the research tasks. To perform this research you have a interest in and affinity to work with enzymes and in the area of food science.

Profile of the candidate

A recently obtained Master of Science level is mandatory. You are willing to apply for an extra grant to perform a PhD. We expect the following skills from the applicants:

– Good knowledge and interest in food science, and enzyme applications.

– Good communication skills including a very good command of the English language (written and verbal). Knowledge of Dutch is a plus.

– Able to work independent.

– Working with a creative, critical and analytical mindset.

– You have interest in the valorisation of your results in the industry.

– You are willing to apply for a PhD grant.
