PhD candidate Methodology & Statistics (۱٫۰۰ fte)

Vacancy number ۲۰۰۱

Project description

LCDS research program “Stacked Domain Learning for multi-domain data: a new ensemble method”. More and more often data are collected from several domains. For the early diagnosis of Alzheimer disease, for example, questionnaire data, structural MRI data, functional MRI data, EEG data, metabolomics data, and genetic data can be collected. These different types of data differ not only in overall size, but also in quality. It is, for example, well known that fMRI data are very noisy. To obtain an accurate early diagnosis it is important to obtain the relevant features from each domain but also to look for cross domain interactions. At the moment, however, it is unknown which statistical method should be used to analyze such multi-domain data and how to deal with the differences in data quality between the domains.

Your task is to write scientific, peer-reviewed publications, resulting in a PhD thesis. For about 10% of the position, you will contribute to the teaching program of the Methodology and Statistics section.

  • You have completed a master with excellent grades related to data science (statistics, computer science, econometrics, etc.) or related to neuro-computing;
